Fishing Guide - England FAQs
1. What service do you offer?
We offer an advertising only service for angling based resourcesin England, where the resource owner/agent handles all the enquiries which come from the site. We do not manage, nor handle any enquiries or bookings.
2. How can I register a resource?
You can only register a resource online through our registration system. As we are a free to use site, we cannot undertake to process any registrations outside of the automated system.
Click Here to start the process.
3. What image formats can the system process?
The system can generally accept most image formats though prefers .JPG or .GIF files. The system relies on the original photograph being of a reasonable quality and size. Poor images return poor enquiries.
The system requires that the images are less than 1000kb in file size each.
Remember the old cliche that an image paints a thousand words and this is certainly true when advertising rental properties. Use high quality images to enhance your listing.
It is the resource owners/agents responsibility to ensure that they have copyright, or necessary permission to reproduce any images uploaded.
4. My images are too large to upload, what can I do?
There is plenty of software available that can reduce image file size, normally by reducing the actual image size itself rather than the quality. Microsoft Windows includes a software called Paint which can be used to reduce the image size below our 1000kb limit.
5. Can I update my resource online?
Yes, we have an Owners Area, which you can log into as an advertiser and make updates to your resource, such as text, quick view details, prices, contact details etc. as well as updating the availability calendar and adding the resource to the Late Deals page.
Obviously, this facility to update your details gives you much greater flexibility, however we do require that the details are accurate and not misleading to potential clients.
6. How do enquiries come from the site?
Enquiries are made from the resource page, either through the enquiry form link or by the client telephoning you, provided that you have a number displayed.
We do not review any of the booking enquiries sent from our site, however, should you be unfortunate to lose your emails, we can send you a copy that is stored on our server.
All enquiries must be answered by the owner/agent in a prompt manner even if the resource is already booked/sold subject to contract. We suggest that you have a standard email that you can send if this is the case.
7. How do I deal with bookings?
All bookings must be made through you or your agent. We suggest that all details are confirmed between yourself and the client and that you keep records.
8. Where will I appear on the search results?
This is one of the most commonly asked questions. It depends on a variety of inputs. On each town page the results are ordered by resource type and how many the resource sleeps, but within these results the order is randomised on a day to day basis. The client can also sort the resources using the field selectors.
On the quick search, the resources are sorted within the search fields and then displayed in a random order on a day to day basis.
On the advanced search, the same happens, though the results are narrowed down depending on the search query.
9. How many enquiries can I expect from the site?
This is the million and one dollar question and one that we cannot answer nor can we guarantee as it depends on too many variables. We suggest that to maximise your enquiries, you stick to the basics and provide good quality images and do not expect too high a rental price or clients will look elsewhere. Keep your renters happy and they will probably return to you and recommend your resource to their friends and colleagues. Also when you receive an enquiry, the work has only just begun, you then need to turn it into a booking. The client has probably sent the same enquiry to many other owners, so reply promptly.
